Our Mission
The mission of Day Away Association is to join with local churches in reaching out to women for Christ – by building local teams equipped for evangelism and discipleship.
In May of 1991, Day Away Association for Women was organized and held its first seminar in Zurich. In November of 1990, a retreat took place in Egg, Switzerland, where 44 women gathered to talk about “Forgiving the Unforgivable”. This topic and the discussion really resonated with the women, so the idea of an English speaking seminar to address “life-issues” from a spiritual perspective was born. In the last 19 years, spring and fall seminars have been offered continuously to thousands of English-speaking women.
A typical Day Away seminar lasts approximately 4 hours and explores one or more significant life issues in light of a biblical worldview and what Christianity has to offer. Topics of interest to women are addressed - acknowledging secular perspectives while holding a clear scriptural viewpoint. This stimulates dialogue about Christianity and its relevance to a woman’s life journey.
Day Away is known for its highly professional seminars aimed at the English-speaking community. Such input in English is rarely available in Europe, except in select business communities.
Thousands of women have discovered Day Away and invited friends and associates to hear practical, biblically-based input for the challenges of life.
In 2003, Day Away expanded beyond Zürich to other cities in Europe. In March of 2004, to accomplish this expansion, Day Away Association for Women was formed as a non-profit organization (verein) under Swiss law.
